My ETF Investing Story

Warran Buffet once said that S&P 500 index fund is the best investment to own for most people. He also said that after he dies, 90% of his wife's inheritance will go into the low cost S&P 500 index fund.
Let's face it - stock picking requires a lot of time and skills (and some lucks of course)  Hence, ETF has become an increasingly popular investment option with its various benefits such as diversification, self adjusting and low cost etc.
I started my investment journey in US stock market by investing in S&P 500 index fund. Gradually, I have also built my ETF portfolio with focus as below:
1) The first ETF no doubt will be the S&P 500 index fund (eg SPY, VOO or Ireland domiciled CSPX) highly recommended by Warren Buffet.
2)  The technology index fund (eg QQQ) to take advantage of the AI tailwind.
3) All world related index fund (eg ACWI, VT) - to diversify into other developed and emerging market other than US market.
4) Bond or dividend related index fund for dividend income and portfolio diversification other than equity asset class.
5) ETF in the industry that you are knowledgeable/ passionate about and you believe in its growth potential, eg index fund related to AI, clean energy, EV, health care etc. Personally I invested in SOXX as I believe that the semiconductor industry will benefit from the AI-fueled bull run.
In terms of portfolio management, depending on one's risk tolence, one can choose to have equal allocation (eg 20% to 5 chosen ETF) to each chosen ETF or a core-satellite type of portfolio (eg, heavier weightage to S&P 500 index fund and smaller allocation to the rest).
I started my ETF investing via roboadvisor on dollar cost averaging (DCA). @Meta Moo has now made investing easy for retail investors like us with the fractional shares and stock regular saving plan (RSP) features which allow us to automatically invest funds on a recurring schedule. Of course if one is savvy enough, you could always do value cost averaging instead.
Hope the above sharing helps. Thanks for reading =)
