My journey in investment: From ASNB to Roboadvisor and finally active trading with MooMoo

I have been playing it safe for the last 20 odd years, investing in low risk and safe portfolios (fixed price unit) in ASNB, with dividend and bonus yearly amounting to roughly 5% for the last 5 years.
In Aug 2021, I started dabbling in  Wahed Roboadvisor HLAL ETF. The first 17 months in the negative territory was a real mental & soul sucking experience, and on numerous occasions, I wanted to bail and cut my losses. Jan 2023 came, and i started to make capital gains with HLAL ETF, and quite happily gaining annualised (albeit unrealized profit) of 8-9%. But Wahed has 0.79% per annum fee, with other fees such as FPX fee and 1% exchange fee RM to USD. And 1-3 working days before the deposit reaches the fund account.
April 2024 was when i tried my hand with ASN Ria with a small amount of RM500. Managed to get 10% unrealized profit within 4 months and the management fee was waived until the end of the year. 0.3% per annum fee will commence in 2025
June 2024 was the first time I tried my hand in active trading with Moomoo. I thought I could get into trading stocks, but I make many mistakes, unable to understand (albeit lazy and burdensome to learn) the charts with the candles, hammers, and what not, I bought NVDIA when it was almost ATH, and now, with the onslaught selling and seeing red, I know I am unable to actively trade stocks with my poor knowledge and understanding of the stock market (and also FOMO), and  too old to stay up at night to actively trade and scrutinizing the red candles.
Will I stop trading with MooMoo? Absolutely not, but I am gonna play it safe in my comfort zone. I am not panicking to sell off my NVIDIA share, but most probably I wont buy anymore as it is not good for my mental health 😂. I am now stocking up (pun intended) SPUS ETF, with the strategy of buying when it dips (red candle) with option trading of buying  it 0.5-0.8% of its opening trading price. Main aim is to hold it long term of at least 3-5 years. Maybe I will also stock up Maybank and other Malaysian stocks for its dividend

  • Zimbo : Navida has been challenging.. Those who made the real money… have already done so.  I am cautious going forward knowing that Semi conductors depend on Asia and the US relationships make it difficult. I try and look for trading opportunities here because it has volume and liquidity.. However, that means wins and losses.  I had awesome trade at the beginning of the week..  but with downward trends it is almost impossible to find the bottom.  I’m in at 118.00 …best senerio we back at 120 levels… worst we @100.. both are real possibilities.

  • 103459281 Red Dragon OP Zimbo : True that...but I was FOMO, jumped on the bandwagon when I first started trading on MooMoo.But i will still keep the NVIDIA stocks that i bought at 125-130 (only 8 shares in total 😂)as I aim for long term  capital gain 🤞 for years to come

Just diversifying my investment 🤞🇲🇾
