Nasdaq Hits Record High as Tech Shines; Dow Suffers Longest Losing Streak Since 2018 | Wall Street Today
The Nasdaq hit another record high as markets closed mixed on Monday. At 4:01 p.m. ET, the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ finished up 1.24% to 20,173. The $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ closed off 0.25%, falling for its eighth consecutive day. This represents its long streak of declines since 2018. The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ was up 0.33%

$Apple (AAPL.US)$, $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$, $Broadcom (AVGO.US)$, and $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ hit all-time highs. Bitcoin reached another record, soaring to $107,000.
MACRO
Investors are expecting an FOMC rate cut of about 25 basis points Wednesday. Thursday brings GDP numbers and Friday the PCE.
Retail sales numbers come out on Tuesday.
SECTORS
For sectors, it was a big day for tech. $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ had a correction, down 2% and $Broadcom (AVGO.US)$ had a good day, rising 11%. Tech and consumer discretionary sectors of the S&P 500 closed at record heights.
MOOVERS
Jefferies downgraded $Ford Motor (F.US)$ to Underperform, citing earnings pressure, rising U.S. inventory, unclear electrification strategy, and tough restructuring decisions ahead, while Ford shares closed nearly 4% lower on Monday.
$Okta (OKTA.US)$ shares closed more than 3% higher Monday after JPMorgan upgraded the stock to overweight from neutral, with a $100 price target.
$MARA Holdings (MARA.US)$ shares closed over 8% higher as Bitcoin surged to an all-time high above $107,000, boosting crypto-linked stocks, while the company advances strategic initiatives, including a wind farm acquisition and plans for a renewable energy-powered data center.
$AeroVironment (AVAV.US)$ shares closed up 8% after the U.S. Government Accountability Office denied a competitor's protest over the company’s nearly $1 billion Army contract for Switchblade drones, allowing work to continue.
