Nasdaq, S&P, and Dow futures were almost flat. mixed yield

Stock index futures remained almost flat on Wednesday, but yields were mixed.

S&P 500 futures (SPX) remained flat, Dow futures (INDU) remained flat, and Nasdaq 100 futures (US100: IND) were -0.1%.

The 10-year US bond yield (US 10Y) rose 3 basis points to 4.48%. The 2-year bond yield (US2Y) remained unchanged at 4.85%.

Major market averages ended mixed on Tuesday, as the slump in Walt Disney (DIS) offset a rise in defensive stocks.

Deutsche Bank Jim Reed said, “While the decline in Tesla (TSLA) and NVDA (NVDA) increased, it is noteworthy that the S&P 500 index, which is equally weighted, recorded an even stronger rise because Magnificent 7 pushed down other indices.”

The company's latest quarterly financial results, which is a theme park and entertainment giant, showed a decline in earnings from the conventional TV business, while a cautious outlook weighed on stock prices, and it ended 9.5% lower on Tuesday.

Investors will also pay attention to the March wholesale inventory report which is expected to be released during market hours. Economists expect it to be minus 0.4 percent from the previous month.

Paul Donovan of UBS said, “The wholesale sector is a valuable part of the economy, but it's hard to get excited about it.”

MBA mortgage applications are also due before the bell.

Pantheon Macroeconomics said, “Today's weekly statistics on mortgage applications for home purchases are likely to show a slight recovery, but they will still show that demand for housing is very weak.”

Several Federal Reserve speakers, including Vice Chairman Philip Jefferson, Boston Federal Reserve President Susan Collins, and Federal Reserve President Lisa Cook, are lining up to present their remarks.

The results of the 42 billion dollar 10-year bond bid will also be announced later the same day.
