Sidus Space Clears Critical Design Review for Netherlands Laser Comm Satellite
Sidus Space (NASDAQ: SIDU) has successfully completed the critical design review (CDR) for LizzieSat™ NL, a laser communication satellite contracted by The Netherlands Organization (TNO). This achievement triggers a milestone payment under their multimillion-dollar agreement and validates the technical baseline for satellite design. The CDR approval allows progression to flight-unit fabrication, assembly, system integration, and testing.
The project involves integrating TNO's HemiCAT, a high-efficiency miniature communications laser terminal, into Sidus' hybrid 3D printed satellite platform. The laser technology enables up to 100 times more data transmission compared to traditional radio frequency systems, enhancing applications like persistent surveillance and Earth imaging.
