Nio Power Up 2024 event: Infrastructure plans, new swap station plant, and more
Nio today unveiled its infrastructure progress and plans at its Power Up 2024 event in Wuhan, Hubei province in central China.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker unveiled its Power Up Counties program, with a goal of having its charging network cover all county-level administrative regions in China by Jun 30, 2025.
Nio aims to have its battery swap station network cover all of the more than 2,300 counties in 27 provincial-level administrative regions by Dec 31, 2025.
As of today, Nio has 2,480 battery swap stations in China, as well as 2,322 supercharging stations with 10,577 charging piles and 1,627 destination charging stations with 12,432 charging piles.
Nio announced at the Nio Day 2023 event late last year that it aimed to add 1,000 battery swap stations in China in 2024.
However, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li hinted last month that the goal could be delayed.
Nio announced today that its power arm, Nio Power, will build a new 20,000-square-metre battery swap station manufacturing base in Wuhan, targeting an annual capacity of more than 1,000 battery swap stations.
The company has two other factories assembling battery swap stations in Kunshan, Jiangsu province and Hefei, Anhui province.

Nio Power will build a new battery swap station manufacturing centre in Wuhan, covering an area of 20,000 square metres, with a target battery swap station production capacity of more than 1,000 units per year.
Nio Power's new headquarters is located in the Wuhan Optical Valley Digital Economy Industrial Park.
On Aug 20, the first Nio 4th generation charging and battery swap station in Wuhan went online. To date, Nio Power has 89 battery swap stations and 882 public charging piles in Hubei province.
