The trading platform has nothing to do with the volatility halts! They are LUDP ( Limit Up Down Pauses ) It happens when a ticker trades up or down outside of pre set parameters! Those parameters are determined by the price the ticker is trading at! If you want a more in depth explanation? Google “ What is a LUDP trading halt” Nasdaq will actually give you the parameters for type 1 and type 2! Plus why and how long! But MooMoo has zero control over it! But it is true that Market Makers do use the halt to manipulate the price by slipping very low asks on top of the board to drop price! Don’t always work because demand can be to high! Hope this helps!

Thank you! I’m not great at explaining things in chat! More of a talker. Hehehe! But I try because I see so many saying things that just are not factual! Just like when I see some thinking that MM i dictating price! They may short a ticker! But the tickers price is the same across the whole market! It’s not like someone trading here is buying/selling to a different price than people using another platform! The only thing different is in PM! MM dose not use total market volume until 9:30! I’m not sure how many brokers they use for volume but it’s not total until 9:30!

i was of the opinion that they manipulated the CB and bring down the price, I am a new trader and have been seeing that CB kills the momentum. I guess with this explanation from you, i kinda have some understanding. thanks!

The CB or LUDP halt is controlled by the exchange! Not the brokers! But you are kinda correct! Market Makers who are in charge of matching up bids/asks to ensure liquidity! They IMO and many other will take advantage of those halts to manipulate the price! They also are the ones who will use the dark pool to send a lot of volume off exchange and that can hide true price discovery/hold price down!
