Nvidia to announce the cancellation of the development of the GB200 NVL36*2 Dual Rack 72 GPU: Analyst
On Tuesday, Minchi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, mentioned NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA stated that it has discontinued the development of the GB200 NVL36*2 Dual Rack 72 GPU.
The stock price fell by 3.5% in the late morning trading.
"In the future, unless there are customized requirements, Nvidia will offer only the single-rack version of GB200 NVL72 (referred to as NVL72), and will discontinue the dual-rack version (NVL36*2)," Mr. Kuo stated. He mentioned in a blog post."The single-rack GB200 NVL36 (referred to as NVL36) will maintain its original development and shipping plans."
This move does not affect artificial intelligence or NVIDIA's long-term trends, but it raises questions about the company's and supply chain's execution capabilities, Mr. Kuo added.
"NVIDIA frequently changing its AI server product roadmaps reflects the company's efforts to achieve a better balance between supply chain execution, competitive advantage, and customer demand under limited resources (the discontinuation of NVL36*2 development being one example)," explained Mr. Kuo. "While this is a positive development and demonstrates NVIDIA's more practical approach to product planning, this transition may lead to some market participants being confused regarding supply chain changes."
