10baggerbamm : keep in mind that a lot of people since last Friday have been very leveraged in the market and with the destruction of wealth call it what it is that has happened as a result of the rollover of the high beta stocks and for a Bitcoin into an asset class people are going to be getting a lot of margin calls and today at 4:00 if they can't come up with the money to satisfy the maintenance requirement of the margin call they get to pick what is sold or the company's margin department sells whatever is in their portfolio to cover the call doesn't matter the text consequences doesn't matter the security. so where I'm going with this is don't be surprised if you see a very sharp downward leg in a lot of the stocks right at 3:55 to 359 because those are typically margin calls being executed to what extent it will hit the NVDA I don't know. but this does happen today is quadruple witching of options and because of the sell-off there's going to be a slew of margin calls.

10baggerbamm Avengers 2023 OP : margin calls (liquidation) start to come in at 3:00 pm .  when I had my broker dealer we would let each office manager know and we would let each broker know at the beginning in the morning who had a margin call and how much needed to come in. so they had up until 3:00 to make a decision. call the client are you bringing in a check.  how much ? fine .they would call up the margin department listen I'll have the money by 3:00 a check's in the office we're all set done . if they don't have the money the broker has the ability to call the client and say what do you want to sell ? you have to sell three and a third times the amount of the margin call!! so if you need to bring in $10,000 you need to sell $33,300 worth of securities to satisfy that margin call . that's what people don't get you need to sell 3.3 times more of a stock than if you bring in cash. that's why when the market sells off and there's margin calls you get this flush that takes effect. if the broker can't reach the customer the margin clerk will just pick anything in their account doesn't matter if they're up down sideways and sell it at the market no limit order.. market order . whatever is needed to sell is liquidated to cover that call. so yes if somebody has Nvidia if they bought it on margin last week if they were margined in their other securities in chips for example and in cyber security stocks that got smacked they're getting margin calls and at 3:00pm Eastern time is when the margin department starts liquidating securities between 3:00 and 4:00. hope this answers your question.

10baggerbamm Avengers 2023 OP : yes I got license back in 1988 and raised tens of millions of dollars for startups through Angel financing was part of many of syndicate under writings, had a trading desk and made markets in a dozen or so securities. out of the business in 1999 when the com's imploded.
