Junius Falcon : I would suggest to understand fundamentals (indicators on the company) first for long term direction, because short term is full of contradicting noises. Then, combine technicals for short-term entry and exit points. Always plan your entry and exit before a hurry execution, re-evaluate them as necessary. News can provide information influencing the fundamentals. Data/Report releases would trigger correction from consensus deviation, but not always. For example, NVDA reports were good, but price fell, likely because of the projected EPS and P/E (fundamentals) didn't justify the high price back then.
Junius Falcon : Don't give up if you don't understand. Do your own research, take your time, do paper trade first and observe your results. Once you feel more comfortable, start with little money. As you get experienced and more knowledged, play bigger. Be patient.
