Nvidia partner SK Hynix to build $6.8 billion chip factory in South Korea
South Korean semiconductor company SK Hynix and Nvidia's suppliers announced on Friday that they will build a semiconductor factory worth 9 trillion400 billion Korean won or 6.8 billion dollars in the Yongin semiconductor cluster.
The company began construction of its first manufacturing facility in 2025/3, and aims for completion by 2027/5 in order to support AI memory chip production and future growth.
Kim Yong-sik, vice president and manufacturing technology manager of SK Hynix, stated, “The Yongin Cluster is the foundation for SK Hynix's medium- to long-term growth, and it will be a place of innovation and co-prosperity that we create together with our partners.”
