NVIDIA's stock price was able to close a new record before CEO Jensen Juan's CES keynote speech

The stock price of NVIDIA (NVDA) closed at a record high on Monday ahead of CEO Jensen Huang's keynote speech at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be held in Las Vegas.
The stock price rose more than 3% to 149.43 dollars, surpassing Nvidia's record high closing price of 148.88 dollars on 2024/11/7.
As Wall Street analysts head to Sin City to meet with the executives of major tech companies, all eyes are on AI chip makers.
It is common for NVIDIA to make important product announcements at CES trade shows, such as the debut of new desktop graphics chips for games and AI last year, but it is expected that Mr. Juan's comments will foretell investors the future of this artificial intelligence giant and the rapidly growing AI market.
Mr. Huang is scheduled to give a keynote speech on Monday at 6:20 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The lecture will be streamed live on sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
His speech came as investors eagerly await the announcement of Nvidia's latest Blackwell AI chip. Analysts say it will drive a new large-scale cycle of demand for the company's products, despite concerns about a slowdown in AI spending.
Sales of the Blackwell series were delayed due to design flaws, and on servers equipped with the same chipThere is a rumor that an overheating problem will occurAfter it spread, Nvidia announced financial results in November, and Blackwell production increased in the current quarter, and chipsIt was confirmed that it was being shipped to customers faster than expected. Reuben Roy, an analyst at StifelIf the Blackwell AI chip becomes a 100 billion dollar market opportunity for NvidiaIt suggests.
The sharp rise in NVIDIA stock on Monday came after a disappointing end to 2024, when this semiconductor maker“Magnificent Seven” led the rebound in high-tech stocksThe increase from last week is expanding.
As another tailwind for NVIDIA stock, Truist Securities analyst William Stein stated in a Monday memo that he thinks NVIDIA will announce a standalone CPU (central processing unit) at CES. This is the “brain” of a computer, separate from NVIDIA's Hopper and Blackwell GPUs (graphics processing units). In a past memo, Stein stated that such an announcement could bring the company an additional $35 billion in market opportunities.
Bank of America's Vivek Arya said in a Monday memo that “NVDA's stock price has basically stagnated for the past 6 months,” but he expects CES to be “a positive trigger to re-assert NVDA's platform superiority.” Arya said she believes NVIDIA will provide “reassuring updates” on announcements related to Blackwell's shipments, robot strategies, and partnerships with AI PCs.
