Major oil companies are evacuating from platforms in the Gulf of Mexico in preparation for the hurricane.

Petroleum and gas giants Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), ExxonMobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), and Shell Company (NYSE:SHEL) have reportedly evacuated staff from their oil platforms in the United States Gulf of Mexico and temporarily halted operations ahead of the anticipated hurricane, according to Reuters.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the system developing in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico is expected to grow from a tropical disturbance into a hurricane by Monday before reaching the northwestern Gulf of Mexico in the middle of the week.
It is too early to determine the exact location and magnitude of the impact, but there is a high possibility of life-threatening high tides and strong winds along the coast of Louisiana and the upper Texas coast from Tuesday night.According to the NHC.
According to the NHC, heavy rain and significant flash flooding are expected in parts of southern Texas, the northeast coast of Mexico, southern Louisiana, and southern Mississippi through Thursday morning.
In July, Category 5 Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, leaving dangerous traces of high tides, flooding, and strong winds. CenterPoint Energy Inc (NYSE: CNP), a public utility company serving approximately 2.6 million customers, reports that over 1.5 million people are without power in their service area.
Freeport, with a processing capacity of 2.1 Bcf/d, is the third largest LNG export plant in the United States, following Sabine Pass with 4.5 Bcf/d operated by Cheniere Energy Inc (NYSE: LNG) in Louisiana and Corpus Christi with 2.4 Bcf/d in Texas. Freeport has three liquefaction trains capable of converting approximately 0.7 Bcf/d of gas into LNG. According to data from LSEG, the average gas supply to the facility was about 1.7 Bcf/d from June 30th to July 6th.
