OpenAI is the largest investor $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ Skip Windows 11 and instead $Apple (AAPL.US)$ The ChatGPT application for the macOS operating system was launched, and a new GPT-4O model was announced at the same time.
OpenAI's CTO Mira Murati announced the release of the ChatGPT desktop app during Monday's event.
Microsoft is the single largest stakeholder in OpenAI and has invested over $13 billion to date. Nevertheless, OpenAI's new ChatGPT app for computers first appeared on Apple's Mac. The Windows version is scheduled to be released later this year, but OpenAI has yet to reveal an exact schedule.
The app has an updated user interface, and users can ask ChatGPT questions about screen content by typing or voicing. AI can provide responses based on visual input.
Users can access the ChatGPT app using the Option+Space keyboard shortcut, and can also take screenshots and discuss within the app.
The app is initially only available to ChatGPT Plus users, but more widespread deployment is planned in the coming weeks.
OpenAI has also introduced a new ChatGPT UI. This includes minor changes to the home screen and message layout. The company aims to improve the user experience and make interactions with ChatGPT more natural and intuitive.
In addition to the new app and UI, OpenAI also announced a new GTP-4o model that all users can use for free.

The release of the ChatGPT desktop application came shortly after OpenAI introduced a more efficient and cost-effective version (called GPT-4O) of the AI model GPT-4.
This new model is trained on extensive internet data and is designed so that text, voice, and images can be processed more effectively in real time.
GPT-4o also provides functions previously limited to paid subscribers, such as web search, multilingual response, and data storage.
The recent development of OpenAI has sparked discussions about the company's possibility of challenging Google search, which is Alphabet's treasure, as pointed out by technology analyst Gene Munster.
However, not everyone is convinced of OpenAI's capabilities. $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ Elon Musk, CEO of and founder of xAI, expressed skepticism about OpenAI's latest AI model development.
After GPT-4o was announced, Musk dismissed the announcement and suggested that AI functions were not as important as claimed.
