Option has been assigned?

10baggerbamm : if you sold a put at any point in time that person can exercise that option it can be out of the money a point a half a percent 1.1% and if they're choosing they can exercise the option. that's the only way a puts going to be assigned if you buy a put then you have that option but when you sell it you're giving somebody else the choice at any point in time it doesn't have to be on expiration day. so it's not a matter whether you're in the money at the money or out of the money the buyer of that put option at any point in time at their own discretion can exercise that option
