Apple's stock price achieved an all-time high, following the release of a series of AI features and software enhancements for its devices. Analysts believe these enhancements will boost iPhone sales. In the fiercely competitive field of artificial intelligence, Apple has trailed behind rivals such as Microsoft and Google's Alphabet, contributing to its underperformance compared to peers this year.
$GameStop(GME.US$ shares tumbled 16.5%. Its options trading volume was 1.21 million. Call contracts account for 63% of the total trading volume. The $23 puts expiring June 14 were traded most actively.
In a statement on its website on Tuesday, GameStop said it had sold the maximum 75 million shares it had announced plans to sell on June 7, when it also released earnings showing a surprise revenue drop. The company said it had reached an agreement with Jefferies to sell those shares pursuant to an existing open-market sale agreement through which it has already sold 45 million shares.
$Oracle(ORCL.US$ shares climbed 13%. Its options trading volume was 0.44 million. Call contracts account for 60% of the total trading volume. The $136 calls expiring June 14 were traded most actively.
Oracle's Chief Executive Safra Catz said she expected strong demand for artificial intelligence would continue to push Oracle sales higher in fiscal 2025. Catz said the cloud-software provider had signed the largest sales contracts in the company's history in fiscal 3Q and 4Q thanks to strong demand for training large language models in the Oracle Cloud. That demand should translate into double-digit revenue growth this fiscal year, she said, with each successive quarter expected to grow faster than the previous one.
