  • Sinisloth : $Virgin Galactic (SPCE.US)$ $Hyperscale Data (GPUS.US)$

  • 102701962 : Thanks for the dip Jensen

  • TokenSleep 102701962 : Right, this is 100% the time to buy and hold.

  • StockPeep : Yeah we don’t need your opinion Jensen, but thinks for the dip. More shares I buy :)

  • BelleWeather : I sold my second naked calls ever on quantum tickers last week (the first time was only a single contract, and while I had very high conviction, it wasn’t to the point of feeling that “I know,” and so risky that, well, one contract was a fine start. I did have the highest level of conviction that quantum stocks would correct, hugely and soon. Still sold extra time for obvious reasons. The only “new” idea I had going into the New Year with any confidence. I’m happy it worked out, of course, because the opposite would have been very not good. I’m so sorry for others, however. It was odd, as I mentioned, commented, shared the trade and spoke of the correction in a Moo Moo Livestream. And there was only one single response that considered essentially what Huang said possible, and many others who disagreed, most vehemently, some angrily and a few in an ugly fashion. Also, I explained my reasoning (same as Sir Jensen’s, but also others,) and it seemed that those in disagreement had none. I should think that a few hours of reading on the technology and examination of valuations and other fundamentals would have prompted caution at the least? I feel bad that the trade worked, but also, wish I saw more reasoning behind strong conviction trades from others. Unless trading purely junk pennys with TA, these things do matter, I think.

  • White_Shadow BelleWeather : Quantum is the next big thing in computing,  be patient homeboy,  like good ole Warren says it's time in the market not timing the market.  I have Quantum computing positions and have had them for some time,  i know this is going to be huge when the time comes, but currently we haven't let the tech and other stuff catch-up with our ambitions.

  • White_Shadow BelleWeather : too many ppl trade with emotion.  Feelings have no place no good purpose when Trading, you have to distance yourself from any/all emotion or they will eventually cause you to make mistakes and affect your bottom line...

  • BelleWeather White_Shadow : I think there are several “next big things in computing,” and that some will come to fruition sooner than others (as far as utility, profitability and scalability.)
I was referring specifically to timing the market with the term “trade,” vs what you speak of, which I term “investment.”
Those with whom I discussed quantum were making shorter term plays, not more than a year out.
I still hold the quantum tickers I DCA-ed into from 2022 through 2024. Those positions are in a different account focused on buy and hold through volatility for the long-term. I only sell shares if something meaningful changes in the prospects of the company in question. As such, haven’t sold any commons of companies in the field. I didnt add during the run up, however, as I find that weighted DCA is more profitable, there is always something beaten down and usually something flying high. (In this case, the positions are still very much in profit.) I’m familiar with the field, players and stakeholders and study regularly. As I’ve stated many times in the past, I believe there is great promise there, and am willing to wait. Sometimes technology leaps forward very quickly, so this approach has served well.
I also trade options contracts in shorter time frames than “forever.” As such, I wanted to capitalize on the correction I anticipated in the shorter term, while still reaping the benefits of holding equity long. I also use options to hedge, speculate, and produce income, so at any given time may be both long and short on the same tickers. I find LEAPS calls helpful in buy and hold, as the leverage provides efficient use of capital in my allocation.
I agree with you, in essence, certainly have experienced the value of patience and especially conviction.

  • White_Shadow BelleWeather : all right, tmi but it's cool kid...lol

  • BelleWeather White_Shadow : I also agree wholeheartedly with Jensen Huang on the field (Nvidia is also a part of,) and Buffet’s emphasis on the efficient allocation of capital in imvesting and for companies themselves. I split the difference such that I can be early without being wrong, and optimize my use of resources.
