Tesla on Tuesday reported a smaller-than-expected 5% drop in vehicle deliveries in the second quarter, as the electric carmaker's price cuts and incentives helped mitigate cooling demand.
Shares of the world's most valuable automaker rallied more than 10% on Tuesday, hitting the highest level in nearly six months.
Tesla handed over 443,956 vehicles in the three months to June 30, 4.8% lower than a year earlier and up 14.8% from the preceding quarter.
The higher-than-expected deliveries data "greatly assuages concerns regarding softening EV demand," CFRA Research analyst Garrett Nelson said. "The stock continues to ride a wave of positive momentum following its annual meeting in mid-June in which shareholders re-approved Musk’s 2018 compensation plan," he said, referring to CEO Elon Musk.

$Sirius XM (SIRI.US)$ shares ended 7.64% higher. Its options trading volume was 0.23 million. Call contracts account for 60.2% of the total trading volume. The $5 calls expiring August 16 were traded most actively.
Shares of Sirius XM Holdings Inc. rose 7.64% to $3.10 Tuesday, closed $4.85 below its 52-week high ($7.95), which the company reached on July 20th.
SiriusXM announced plans to release its second quarter 2024 operating and financial results on Thursday, August 1. The company will hold an investor call the same day at 8:00 a.m. ET.
