Passenger car sales in India in July fell 1.9% from the same month last year
According to data from the Automobile Manufacturers Association of India (SIAM), total passenger car sales in India in 2024/7 fell 1.9% from the previous year to 296,785 units, a reversal from a 5.0% increase in the previous month.
BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, and Volvo are not included in the numbers.
“Compared to 2023/7, the sales volume of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 2024/7 decreased slightly.
Above average rainfall combined with the upcoming festival season is likely to accelerate growth again in the short term.
Furthermore, the budget announcement, which emphasizes infrastructure and overall economic growth with financial support for the rural sector, should bode well for the automotive sector in the medium term,” SIAM Chairman Vinod Agarwal said.
On a monthly basis, car sales increased 0.9% in July.
