Q3 2023 earnings season: What to expect from Singapore Airlines

Air travel, suppressed by the pandemic, saw a significant recovery in 2022-2023. SIA promptly scaled up its capacity to meet the ongoing surge in demand. According to the AAPA March Transport Report,SIA's PLF skyrocketed by 55.3%, hitting 85.4%.
SIA's annual report for 2022/23 indicates that the Group's full-year revenue increased by133.4%, amounting toS$17.78 billion. Passenger revenue also witnessed a substantial increase, surging by376.3%YoY toS$13.37 billion.
Many investors are bullish on SIA's growth prospects. Analysts anticipate another record earnings year for SIA in FY2024, witha core net profit of $3.4 billion projectedby the end of March 2024, fueled by low jet fuel prices. Raymond Yap, an analyst at CGS CIMB, forecasts that SIA will pay out a dividend per share of 38 cents for the current financial year, up from the 28 cents per share it paid last financial year.
Despite positive projections,$SIA(C6L.SG)$sawsignificant share price movementduring recent months on the SGX. As of last week, Singapore Airlines' closing price was S$5.97, with a week VWAP of S$6.14 and a Week Px decrease of 7.3%. Based on Refinitiv's market consensus, SIA's target price on 23 October is expected to beS$6.868, with most analysts believing the stock price is undervalued.
