Recently, I discovered something amazing.

Recently, I discovered something amazing.
Let me tell you, recently I discovered something amazing.
I have a colleague who received a large bonus last year, but then fell into the dilemma of having a lot of money but not knowing how to spend it.
Before you start cursing, let me continue.
The problem my colleague is facing is that he doesn't have any specific places to spend the money.
Due to his upbringing and education, he was taught to be frugal, so the mindset of "if it's not necessary, don't buy it; if it's not broken, don't replace it" is deeply ingrained in him.
Putting it in the bank makes him worry about inflation; keeping it with him makes him worry about being robbed; he doesn't drive or enjoy cars, so he doesn't have the desire to buy a car; he wants to buy a house, but finding a good location for a house is troublesome...I learned from talking to him that some people find having too much money annoying, why not just spend it?
Don't you agree that this is an amazing thing? Isn't spending money supposed to be super easy?
However, I want to ask you, are you really sure you know how to spend money?
If you were to win the lottery today and suddenly receive 1 million Malaysian Ringgit, do you know how to spend this money?
You must be thinking: "Of course I know how to spend it! Just use this 1 million to buy a car, buy a house, that's it, why overthink it?
"But by doing that, does your standard of living improve? At most, you'll just have one more house/car. Why not think about upgrading your home theater system to B&W? (Trust me, the sound quality is amazing)
Why not think about ditching Sushi King and going for Omakase instead? (Believe me, Omakase is really delicious)
Why not think about moving on from Tuna and trying Otoro instead? (Trust me, you won't go back)
Look, why doesn't my colleague know how to spend money even though he has it?
Actually, it's because he knows he doesn't want to buy a house, buy a car, so he feels like there's nowhere to spend it.
But if he knew how delicious Otoro was and how beautiful Hallstatt was, would he still be bothered by how to spend money?
Especially when it comes to spending money on experiences, there is no limit. So how do you learn to spend money?
But for now, I don't know the methodology.
However, I think one option to consider is to marry a spouse who knows how to spend money.
(Because my wife is the one who takes me to fine dining...)
If you're already married, you can start by making friends with a bunch of spendthrifts. What do you think is the most worth spending money on?
PS: Recently, I took my team to have an all-you-can-eat A5 Wagyu buffet to let them experience what it's like to eat unlimited Wagyu.
