According to the June commercial dynamics statistics bulletin announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on the 31st, retail sales value (based on all stores) was up 3.7% from the previous year. A 3.2 percent increase was expected in Reuters's preliminary forecast survey.
Compared to the previous year by industry, retail sales of machinery and equipment such as home appliances increased by 10.1%, retail sales of various products increased 7.7%, etc.
Compared to the previous year by business category, large electronics specialty stores increased 10.3%, drugstores increased 7.5%, department stores increased 13.5%, etc.
