S&P 500 and Dow Jones inch higher on the back of expected October CPI data

U.S. crude futures: 68.43 (+0.46%)

Wall street saw a mixed performance on Wednesday, on the back of consumer price index (CPI) data, which rose 0.2% month-on-month in October, being within estimates. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 got off to a good start early in the session before giving back some gains to close slightly higher. Consumer and energy stocks closed in the green while tech stocks weighed on the indices. The Nasdaq-100 extended its decline to a third consecutive day.
