$SBS Transit (S61.SG)$ sbs transit won the contract for the Red Hill bus package again at around 400.76 million yuan; while SMRT secured the contract for the Jurong West bus package at 400.11 million yuan. sbs transit will take over the operation rights of the packages from sbs transit by September 2024.
The Land Transport Authority announced on Friday (August 18) that the contract for the operation rights of the Red Hill bus package has been awarded to sbs transit, and the contract for the Jurong West bus package has been awarded to SMRT.
Both contracts are for a period of five years and will gradually take effect from the second quarter of 2024.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) invited tenders for the Red Hill bus package and the Jurong West bus package on November 23, 2022. Bidders can choose to operate either one package or both together. There were a total of six companies bidding, including the National Express Group from the United Kingdom and the Transdev Group from France.
The Land Transport Authority said that the tender adopts a two-envelope approach to evaluate bus operators' bids and service quality. The announcement stated that SBS Transit and SMRT both have a deep understanding of the accompanying operations, not only offering more competitive bids, but also proposing plans to improve services and promote environmental sustainability.
