Breaking News
SG real estate posts annual growth rate of 4.2%
Singapore's real estate market continues to be resilient, growing at a yearly rate of 4.2% due to the arrival of expatriates, Knight Frank’s recent study showed. Specifically, the financial and professional services sector helped in boosting the rental market more than the sales market. This can be attributed to the implemented tax measures that now implement taxes equivalent to 60% of buying prices on foreigners.
SGX CEO Loh Boon Chye elected new chairman of World Federation of Exchanges
LOH Boon Chye, chief executive of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) Group, has been elected the new chairman of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). He will serve a 2-year term with the global industry association. Established in 1961, the WFE is the global industry association for exchanges and clearing houses. Headquartered in London, it represents over 250 market infrastructure providers, including standalone central counterparty clearing houses that are not part of exchange groups.
S'pore financial firms shrunk gender pay gap by nearly half from a decade ago — ministry
The gender pay gap for women working in Singapore’s finance industry narrowed to 15.6% in 2022, almost half the 27.1% gap of a decade ago, the city state’s Ministry of Manpower said in a response to a question from a lawmaker on Tuesday. The remaining difference between what women earn, on average, compared with their male peers, is because higher-paying, senior positions are more often held by men, the ministry said.
