Bad thing is it a good target for shorter attacks for devident payout EX date as the bonus is a cut from share price. This directly a turn down and wash off whatever price making of the share for long term players.

Fully agreed with you, after X, the decline is always much more than the dividends can honour. I always asked myself, how far can a good revenue generating company decline, how far can a good paying dividend company decline. Can SIA decline to $3 or $1, because of good dividends and good revenue ? I think it is quite unlikely, although I can be wrong. Therefore, my conclusion is that, just keep accumulating anything below $8 and sell along the way up, especially, above $8. For the time being, just enjoy the high dividend payout and wait. Its a patient game. Unless you are young and energetic, you may like to try the US market, fast and furious. I have no more stamina for roller coaster ride. But know your own stamina first before taking the ride. Just for sharing only, hopefully, we can acquired the right strategy for ourselves. Every individual's strategy is different, need not follow other individuals.

There's a price to pay for this top dividend stock in SG, don't forget it went down $1 immediately after ex. date, now barely just recovered 1/5 of it lol

I fully agree with you, me too, feeling extremely disappointed. But there's nothing much we can do. Just average and keep it in the safe and hope for another year of dividends. I believe it will come a day where, after X, the shares will shoot up instead of decline. Imagine if SIA is doing $5 now and paying dividends of 70 cents with revenue 3 times higher than last FY. It's just my dream.
Meng PaPa : SIA is a good share. Besides Covid-19, it is a revenue generating company. Giving good dividends. It is also a dividend King company.
SkyTheLimit88 : hope not another boring day for SIA.
