ZTgc : This is not an uncommon incident in airlines biz, so unlikely to cause price to dip. If anything, price should go up as consumer will have more confidence that SQ takes passengers safety as number 1 priority. Better be safe than sorry, 8 hrs waiting better than no more time to wait.
PassiveLearner OP ZTgc : Agreed remembered SIA have very strict checks for aircraft hope this isn't too common for the top few ranked airlines.
ZTgc : Safety focus applies for all airlines, regardless of top or bottom rankings. Being at the top means more customers, more lives to protect, more sales/flights, more incident rates so more checks. SQ being stringent makes it a great way to fly! YOLO
