$SIA(C6L.SG$ to those who are going to spend big at lunchtime today, FYI it's called window dressing. 31 Dec investco must show they aren't holding onto loads of "cash". otherwise got questions from the uncles and aunties.

Cui Nyonya Kueh : What does it mean
Always Hungryy OP Cui Nyonya Kueh : it means...
1. many fund managers were holding cash. uninvested cash.
2. with 31 Dec coming they all need to do "something" with the cash so that when the financial statements snapshot is taken on 31 Dec they aren't seen as "investing in cash" (which means they did nothing).
3. to not do anything means on 31 Dec there will be a large cash holding. and the investors will raise big questions as to why they are paying fund management fees when it's just sitting as "cash" in the balance sheet.
4. so funds worldwide do window dressing so that come 31 Dec it looks like the fund has been doing something rather than holding loads of cash passively.
Always Hungryy OP : so just coz you see SIA stock go up, doesn't mean it's a genuine stock buy.
you can tell it's window dressing because all stocks went up (not only SIA), and no new financial news disclosed overnight to excite the market, and 31 Dec is days away.
