Sime (SIME, 4197, Main Board Consumer Stocks) and Porsche announced that they will jointly expand the Sime automotive production and assembly plant in Inokom to include the Porsche assembly center. This local assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah will be expanded to 0.01 million 1000 square meters and will mainly assemble and produce the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe. This model will be the first Porsche to be locally assembled and exported to Thailand.
Porsche Malaysia's assembly plant was established in 20222 and is the brand's first assembly plant outside of Europe. It has currently launched 2 generations of more than 5000 Porsches. Over 2000 locally assembled Cayenne vehicles will be sold in Malaysia within 2 years. Expanding the Kulim assembly plant today ensures that the first batch of Cayennes for regional export can meet customer demands.
