Slow Day to Start Busy Week | Wall Street Today
Monday was a muted day where oil fell, earnings came in mixed, and the market climbed.
At 4 pm ET, the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ is up 0.27%. The Dow $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ is up 0.65% and the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ is up 0.26%.
$Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ reports Tuesday alongside $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$, $Meta Platforms (META.US)$ and $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ release Wdnesday, and $Apple (AAPL.US)$ and $Amazon (AMZN.US)$ arrive Thursday- look out for a first word on their results here on moomoo.
MACRO
In macro this week, investors are watching for inflation signals before the following week's FOMC meeting to decide any policy change necessary. GDP numbers for Q3 are coming Wednesday, Thursday is the PCE, the favorite inflation gauge of the Fed, and Friday will see nonfarm labor data.
SECTORS
$Crude Oil Futures(DEC4) (CLmain.US)$ fell 5% after Israel struck targets in Iran over the weekend- killing four soldiers by bombing air defense systems and military targets. However, Iran downplayed the damage, and senior Biden administration officials told Bloomberg the lack of response and light attack by Israel was due in part to their efforts to mitigate a military confrontation between the two regional powers. Onlookers and investors alike were worried Israel would target and damage energy infrastructure.

$Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$ climebd a bit to $69k. Gold fell while silver climbed, the $U.S. 2-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US2Y.BD)$ and the $U.S. 10-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US10Y.BD)$ climbed.
"Israel's limited attack on Iran avoided the nation's energy infrastructure, thereby reducing the risk of a disruption and potentially signaling a de-escalation," Saxo Bank told MT Newswires
MOOVERS
$Oklo Inc (OKLO.US)$ shares climbed 28%, leading nuclear stocks higher, and sent options on the stock near the top of the list for the highest trading volume in the market on Monday. Seeking Alpha attributed the climb to a market reaction to a 60 Minutes TV segment featuring $Centrus Energy (LEU.US)$ CEO Amir Vexler, who said the nuclear power industry supplies 20% of American power and relies on Russian Uranium. Uranium and nuclear stocks have radiated higher in the past year, as big tech competes for energy sources for AI data centers.
$Boeing (BA.US)$ fell about 1% Monday morning, the lowest decliner on the Dow at times after the firm said it would sell about $19 billion in stock to shore up its balance sheet. According to the WSJ, the firm will launch a public offering for 90 million shares of common stock at $14 billion in value -- and issue $5 billion in preferred stock.
$Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ saw a bearish $1.51 million trade in the call options just a day before the chipmaker is expected to report earnings that could test whether the stock is living up to the hype over artificial intelligence

$Ford Motor (F.US)$ released its Q3 earnings, slightly beating earnings per share and sales estimates. Ford's Q3 earnings and sales beat estimates, but looking ahead, Ford lowered its guidance. It expects adjusted EBIT of about $10 billion with adjusted free cash flow between $7.5 billion and $8.5 billion.
$McDonald's (MCD.US)$ suffered a slowdown in business in the wake of the E. coli outbreak tied to onions served on Quarter Pounders. Customer foot traffic to the chain's U.S. stores declined more than 6% over the three days following the outbreak's announcement on Oct. 22, compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Gordon Haskett Research Advisors.
