The US Chamber of Commerce said in an email to its members on Thursday (November 21) that the Biden administration will implement new export restrictions on chinese semiconductors as early as next week.
Reuters reported on Friday (22nd) quoting parts of the email, the new regulations will blacklist up to 200 chinese chip companies, prohibiting most american suppliers from exporting goods to these companies.
The email stated that the Department of Commerce, which oversees US export policy, plans to publish the above regulations before Thanksgiving break next Thursday (28th). The US will also announce new restrictions on artificial intelligence next month, imposing restrictions on high-bandwidth memory chips exported to China.
