Softbank Group (9984.T), which has invested in the Indian electric two-wheeler leader Ola Electric (OLAE.NS), opened a new tab, reported its lowest monthly passenger carried figures for September this year. This was revealed in government data. Due to competition with smaller industry peers and issues related to service infrastructure, the company's competitiveness has declined.
In September, the number of passengers carried was 23,965, marking a decrease compared to the previous month for the second consecutive month. With the decrease in the number of passengers carried, market share has continuously declined for 5 months from over 50% in April to 27% in September.
During this period, competitors such as TVS Motor (TVSM.NS), opened a new tab, have been increasing their share for 5 consecutive months, while Bajaj Auto (BAJA.NS), opened a new tab, has been expanding its share for 3 consecutive months, narrowing the gap with Ola.
Analysts analyze that Ola's lead is narrowing due to competitors releasing new models at prices close to Ola's, and due to issues with Ola's service network leading to a pile-up of unresolved cases.
