$SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ Something to consider. Historically, rate cuts can be bullish for equities, but sometimes the exact opposite happens. This market has rallied for over a year and a half on the prospect that the Fed was going to cut rates. This market has went up on bad news and even higher on good news.
It had priced in 6 cuts for this year, and here we are getting close to September and no rate cuts yet. The question in my mind is, "Has the recent selloff been enough to price at least 3 rate cuts out of the market?" Considering how close we still are to ATHs, I doubt it.
The Fed would prefer to have a recession that they can "rescue" us from than inflation that reignites.
If this is a buy the rumor, sell the news event - - bulls better hold onto their seats.
