Stanford University unveils new robot HumanPlus, WiMi made a strong entry into the tech market

A few days ago, the HumanPlus robot appeared in a video that attracted people to stop by autonomously putting on Nike shoes, tying them, standing and walking.

Described as a 6-foot-tall humanoid robot embarked on by Stanford University, the robot employs two Transformer models and dual RGB cameras, incorporating two end-to-end approaches to general-purpose robotics, namely mimicking human behaviour in the real world and large-scale reinforcement learning (RL) in simulated environments.

And, by mimicking humans, the HumanPlus humanoid robot has learned to fold sweatshirts, unload items from warehouse shelves, squat, jump and stand, and even greet another robot.

Just in March this year, the Stanford University and Google (GOOG) DeepMind team collaborated to develop a general-purpose robot Mobile ALOHA that can stir-fry and do housework to brush the whole network. According to the description of the project team, the accelerated Mobile Aloha robot quickly and smoothly complete several non-standardized actions, including frying shrimp, and tidying up tables and chairs.

To realize the relevant functions, the experimenters arranged for the robot to learn the operation process of each task 50 times, and the success rate of the robot reached 90% when completing the operation tasks after collaborative training. The team said that in the future, after more training and hardware and software upgrades, Aloha will be able to realize more autonomous functions.

Tesla says that the Optimus humanoid robot gets all of its training data from human trainers wearing VR headsets. As you can see, the complete system integrates a VR headset, sensors, gloves, motion capture suits, and related software. By utilizing the VR headset, the Optimus humanoid robot maps the human operator’s movements 1:1, while the software enables real-time transmission of first-person video and precise control of the output while maintaining extremely low latency.
