US retail sales in June showed steady growth on a basis excluding the effects of cyber attacks on car dealers, suggesting that private consumption remained solid at the end of April-June (2nd quarter).
Retail sales excluding automobiles (before adjustment for inflation) increased 0.4% from the previous month, and growth exceeded market expectations of 0.1%. The previous month's portion was also revised upward from a 0.1% decrease in the preliminary report value to a 0.1% increase.
Overall, it remained flat, but a 2% decrease in sales at car dealers was a downward factor.
