Some reasons for stock split:

1st - stock splits are often an indication that a company is performing well. Think of it this way: A company's share price probably wouldn't be high enough to warrant a split if it wasn't executing well and out-performing its competitors.

2nd - as the stock price increases massively, it also means the stock has become less affordable for investors, making it difficult to attract new investors.

This is when stock split comes in to make the stock less expensive for retail investors

3rd - stock split benefits option traders because it is less expensive.
