On the Tokyo stock market, the Nikkei average continued to rise, ending trading at 39,180.06 yen, up 667.04 yen from the previous trading day. Following the trend of high-tech stock gains in the previous day's U.S. stock market, along with Japan being exempt from U.S. regulations on the semiconductor industry, leading semiconductor-related stocks showed widespread increases. The Nikkei average recovered the milestone of 39,000 yen after about a week.
Government bond futures in the morning session slightly declined, with long-term interest rates at 1.085%. The market lacks direction.
The main contract of government bond futures in December, closed the morning trading session at 142.77 yen, down 5 sen from the previous trading day. With the upcoming 10-year bond tender, the market lacks direction. The yield on newly issued 10-year government bonds (long-term interest rates) rose by 1.0 basis points to 1.085%.
Today's government bond futures opened with buying momentum, following a slight uptrend in overnight trading. After the initial buying phase, it gradually dipped into negative territory without a clear direction, leading to a consolidation near the previous day's closing price.
