Hello, everyone! I’m Nigel Chong, a stock trader from Malaysia. Alongside trading, I also run a stock trading education business.
I’ve been active in both the Malaysian and US markets for the past seven years and have been building a fortune through diligent trading. My approach draws heavily on Mark Minervini’s Volatility Contraction Patterns (VCP) and William O’Neil’s CANSLIM model.

One significant contributor to this success is Notion-WD, a recently listed company warrant. You might wonder why I chose Notion-WD. The decision was based on its parent company, Notion Vtec, which offers a leveraging effect, crucial for the warrant’s appeal.
Here’s a direct quote from Notion Vtec’s latest quarterly report from 20th May 2024:
“Demand for large capacity HDDs mainly for cloud and enterprise computing and increasingly for Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine learning, data storage has seen a resurgence of demand and orders as we serve that space diligently. We have established long-term relationships with these major HDD makers and the commitment for long-term supply is of paramount importance. We will grow in line with the industry growth pattern.”

Technical Analysis:
Post-Q4 2023 earnings, Notion-WD’s stock price surged by 44% in a day, spotlighting the stock in the market. It then moved sideways, forming a cup and handle pattern—a bullish signal. Despite a breakout from the previous high, it initially didn’t sustain due to the price fixing of the company warrant (Notion-WD).
Fundamental Analysis:
Notion Vtec demonstrated remarkable growth: Q4 2023 showed a 122% QoQ and 319% YoY increase. The following quarter, Q1 2024, continued this trend with a 74.9% QoQ and 280% YoY growth. The booming demand in AI, cloud, and enterprise computing suggests a bright future for HDD players.
My Trading Decision:
For Notion-WD, my trading choices were primarily guided by technical analysis, with fundamental insights providing additional support. I sold off my positions in two phases, securing profits of 91% and 114%, respectively. While the stock continued to climb after my exit, I am not overly concerned. I understand that an extended price rise often leads to a healthy retracement, and I remain vigilant for new opportunities to re-enter if trends align.
Philosophy and Looking Ahead:
My goal is not to chase the highest possible return in a single trade but to steadily compound my gains in the market. Reflecting on this, I’m more than satisfied with securing returns that quintuple my usual gains. 😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏
