sean lys : Chinese has the government to back them up (so do Intel but to a much lesser extend), but unfortunately can't go around the patents set up by the west. There are no use of those 7nm Chinese chips only for domestic market when China is facing their own economic slow down as well. No pro western countries won't buy chips from China worrying the security issue (huawei). In long run, buying TSMC and Intel serves as a hedge in case either China or US win
China invade Taiwan, TSMC goes down and Intel up.
China maintain current situation, TSMC goes up and Intel's future depends on their market strategy and products.
US goes to recession, Intel goes down and TSMC down.
