Taiwan countered Mr. Trump's claim, stating that semiconductor manufacturing is commissioned by American companies and not taken away.

Kuo Chih-Hui, Minister of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, rejected the criticism from former President Trump, asserting that Taiwan has not taken the semiconductor industry from the USA.
On the 2nd day, in Taipei, Mr. Kuo stated to the press corps, "It is only natural that Taiwan has not stolen the semiconductor industry from the USA," explaining that the semiconductors manufactured by Taiwan are commissioned by American companies. He mentioned, "Mr. Trump may have some misconceptions about these matters, and we will clarify them."
In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek in July, Mr. Trump criticized Taiwan's semiconductor sector, saying, "They took the semiconductor business from us."
