Tesla remains the leader in BEV sales for Q2 2024, ahead of BYD. Even though BYD sells cars at a much lower price point.

BYD sold 426,039 passenger BEVs in the second quarter, 17,917 fewer than Tesla. BYD overtook Tesla in the BEV segment in Q4 2023, but the latter regained the top spot in Q1 2024. About half of BYD's sales come from BEVs and the other half from plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
