Tesla Cybertruck on track to be #1 electric pickup truck in the US

Tesla did not provide a precise number for its Cybertruck deliveries. However, a few official X accounts suggested that the Tesla Cybertruck is the best-selling electric truck as of the second quarter. Tesla’s lead engineer for the Cybertruck, Wes, celebrated the electric pickup truck’s achievement on X. Tesla’s official Cybertruck X account also confirmed the news.
My Take: Sawyer Merritt has posted in x.com on how he estimates Tesla Cybertruck to be the Q2 2024 best selling electric pickup truck when he compared with the other two US popular pickup truck brands.
Ford sold 7,900 F-150 Lightings and Tesla Cybertruck is 11,000 units (estimate)
He commented that Ford sold 7,900 Lightnings, so Tesla only needed to deliver about 8k Cybertrucks to be #1. That would mean ~13,551 Model S/X sales in the quarter...Tesla said they built 1k Cybertrucks in a single week in April. Troy estimated ~11k Cybertruck sales in Q2, so even if we assume he's 25% off in his estimate, Cybertruck would still be #1.
Rivian sold 8,100 R1T Pickup (estimate)
Saywer said that Rivian sold a total of 13k electric vehicles in Q2. He estimated that even if the R1T made up 60% of Rivian's sales (which it definitely doesn't, they said the R1S is more popular), it would only bring their number to ~8,100.
Based on the previous post, Cybertruck has a 2 million preorder. According to Torquenews in May, Tesla has ramped up Cybertruck production rate and it is estimated to produce 18,000 units per quarter (75,000 units per year). Tesla faces a supply issue not demand. The news just slapped the face of someone who shared frequently that Cybertruck is a failure with exaggerated comments like "Cybertruck is poorly designed" and "Ford Lightning will crash Cybertruck".
