G' day, Aussie mooers! Hope you're doing well!
Tesla's stock volatility continues, with shares rebounding 27% last week on Q2 delivery beats, reversing yearly losses. Catch up on the latest information and insights from our mooers below.
Headline
Tesla broke through the 200-day moving average for the first time in six months, which is another positive factor for the stock's trend.
Tesla on the Road: To-the-moon, or overvalued?
......while Tesla’s stock has dropped about 35% from its all-time high, its valuation remains high, trading at approximately 67x P/E(TTM). Though Tesla has innovation and leadership advantages in multiple areas, its current high valuation and uncertain future profitability cast doubt on its sustainability.

Mooers Insight
......Tesla has a history of missing expectations. But as mentioned above, I believe this time, Tesla’s results could be a surprise and delight as the market does not appreciate how important it is to be added to the Chinese government approved vehicle order list......
Someone posted that Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest sold Tesla shares recently is to "pump and dump the stock" and "misguide the investors" is not true.
Tesla is just like apple in the phone industry, if apple can hit 3.5T market cap, why not Tesla? There are still many other items yet to be launched such as Robotaxi, budget models, and other recurring revenue such as maintenance charges, power supplies and so on. Just keep holding it, it will easily hit at least 2x 3x or more in the next few years.

  • ZnWC : Thanks for compiling the post [undefined] and congratulations to those who gain on Tesla (small or big).

I don't reveal my portfolio due to privacy. Despite the Tesla Q2 2024 delivery being -5% YoY, the share price has risen more than 50% in the past 1 months and 6% YTD. According to Finbold, this surge led to an estimated $5.7 billion in unrealized losses to Tesla short-sellers after 2 July, the release of the Q2 delivery report.

The company is reporting the earnings in less than 2 weeks (on 23 July) and many analysts have predicted a significant drop in the earnings per share or EPS YoY due to the price cutting which hurts margin and profitability . Despite TA indicators saying the stock is overbought and a pullback is imminent, the share price continues uptrend with a 10-days winning streak.

The bulls think Tesla has growth potentials and the stock value will increase 2-5 times once the electric vehicle autonomy is fully solved and AI bots Optimus in volume production. They believe that the company is more than a car maker.

The bears think Tesla is losing EV market share globally. It has a high p/e ratio and EPS is declining due to price cutting. They believe Tesla is just a car making company.

I think it depends on what you believe in. But one thing for sure is you need a strong heart to invest in this stock which has a high volatility risk.

Disclaimer:The above is not financial advice. You should trade within your means and DYODD if you want to invest in the stock.

  • steady Pom pipi : I'm waiting for Tesla on the moon[undefined][undefined][undefined]

  • 102362254 : Yes, I've made a small gain on Tesla. It's been on a strong rise for the past ten days, completely recovering all its losses since the beginning of the year. Since April's lowest point, it's now up around 5% for 2024 and has surged by an impressive 75%. I plan to hold onto it for the long term.

  • yoongmy : Thanks to Elon Musk and Tesla for the innovations and great product.

  • Wonder : Tesla has made an impressive return, playing catchup with the rest of the Mag7. Amazing, the tide has turned.

  • mr_cashcow : Yes I have made some moolah thanks to Tesla & Elon[undefined] One important thing to take note is that Tesla is not just an EV company, it is much more than that[undefined]

  • SneakyBear : I've been riding the Tesla wave and it's been a thrilling journey. I bought $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ back when it was around $174, and now seeing it rebound to over $260 is incredible with a more than 50% gain in just a few months! My P/L currently stands at a solid gain! 🎉

Despite the volatility, I'm optimistic about Tesla's future. The company’s continuous innovation and leadership in the electric vehicle market keep me confident in holding my shares. Sure, the P/E ratio is high, but with upcoming projects like Robotaxi, budget models, Optimus (the Tesla robot), and other recurring revenue streams such as maintenance charges and power supplies, I believe Tesla's growth story is far from over.
What about you guys? Are you holding, selling, or buying more? Let’s discuss!
