Tesla is planning the development of new batteries for Robo-taxis, according to reports.

U.S. electric vehicle (EV) leader Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab, plans to develop four new batteries to be used in EVs such as Cybertrucks and upcoming Robo-taxis. The IT site 'The Information' reported on the 3rd, citing sources.
Currently, Tesla sources most of the EV batteries from other companies such as Panasonic Energy and LG Energy (373220.KS), but aiming to strengthen production of 4680 battery cells in the USA for cost reduction and profit margin improvement.
According to The Information, the development of the 4680 battery is facing challenges. Tesla has not responded to Reuters' request for comment.
