Mr. Musk stated in a telephone conference for analysts and investors that robo-taxis, like the humanoid robot “Optimus,” will be manufactured at a factory in Austin, Texas. The vehicle assembly facility scheduled to be built in Mexico is still suspended, and plans will not proceed until at least the US presidential election in November is over. Since Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate that Mr. Musk recently supported, talks about imposing heavy tariffs on Mexican products, he explained that “if that actually happens, there is no point in investing a lot in Mexico.”
