Tesla's July 4 plans in China: Elon Musk will present Cyborg and Optimus Prime robots at this week's World Artificial Intelligence Conference

As the US celebrates Independence Day on Thursday, Tesla Inc. will travel to China to present its futuristic Cybertruck and the latest version of the Optimus robot at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

Note: The annual WAIC event will kick off in Shanghai on July 4. Some of the world's biggest brands will be invited, and leaders will discuss technological advancements, industry trends, and the appropriate path forward for artificial intelligence development.

According to a Teslarati report, Tesla will be showcasing Cybertruck and Optimus Gen 2 at this week's event.

The Tesla Cybertruck, which was released in November last year, is one of the most anticipated vehicle launches of all time. Although its unique design has attracted a great deal of attention, CEO Elon Musk said the car is unlikely to achieve positive cash flow for some time. That hasn't stopped the company from marching around the world to create excitement.

Since its launch, Cybertruck has been battling delivery delays and recalls related to unexpected acceleration and windshield wiper issues, but it's still popular, especially among celebrities.

The latest recall provides insight into the EV maker's speed of production and delivery. As Benzinga previously reported, the recall data appears to show that Tesla delivered 7,810 network trucks in nine weeks, with an average of 867 per week.

Musk recently pointed out that Cybertruck production climbed to 1,300 units per week, setting a Tesla record. The electric car maker aims to produce 250,000 units per year by 2025.

Tesla will also present the latest version of its Optimus robot in China this week. Optimus Gen 2 debuted at the end of 2023. The second-generation robot is more than 20 pounds lighter than the previous generation, moving 30% faster, and increasing hand control.

Less than a month ago, Tesla announced the deployment of two Optimus robots at its Gigafactory in Texas, which are carrying out tasks autonomously. Musk recently said he expects one day the number of humanoid robots in the world will surpass the human population.

Tesla's CEO is expected to be one of the keynote speakers at the WAIC opening ceremony, according to Reuters, which quoted the agenda released before the meeting.

According to reports, Musk provided video clips of his speech at the first two WAIC events. His last appearance in person was in 2019.

TSLA price action: Tesla's stock price has been falling for the past week, rising more than 25%. The stock closed shortened on Wednesday, rising 6.54% to $246.39, according to Benzinga Pro.

Ross Gerber says this $100,000 cyber truck needs Tesla's love for FSD: “It would be great to have software”

As potential artificial intelligence booms, Tesla Energy has attracted analysts' attention and praise: “Gaining market share or the overall market will grow substantially in 2024”
