DNB ASA (formerly DnB NOR ASA) is the largest financial services group in Norway. As of May 20, 2016, its total assets exceeded 1.9 trillion Norwegian Krone, with a market cap of 164 billion Norwegian Krone. DNB is headquartered in Oslo.
DNB's two largest shareholders are the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Norway (34.0%) and Sparebankstiftelsen DnB NOR (10.0%). The latter was established as a foundation with the sole purpose of owning a portion of the company. It was established when Gjensidige NOR became a publicly traded company to ensure that the company's customers retain partial ownership. The foundation can also donate 25% of the dividends it receives as gifts to charities.
