It targets EVs (electric vehicles), PHEVs (plug-in hybrid vehicles), and FCVs (fuel cell vehicles), and the subsidy amount was drastically increased from 90 billion yen last year, and 129.1 billion yen was recorded in the supplementary budget for fiscal 2023. It will be applied from vehicles registered and reported on or after 4/1. Apart from this, a supplementary budget of 40 billion yen was included as a charging/filling infrastructure introduction promotion subsidy for businesses. The maximum subsidy amount was set at 850,000 yen, and the minimum amount was a difference of 120,000 yen and 730,000 yen. The maximum amount of CEV subsidies is 850,000 yen for EVs, 550,000 yen for light EVs, 550,000 yen for PHEVs, and 2.55 million yen for FCEVs (fuel cell vehicles). Until 2023, it was 370,000 to 850,000 yen due to vehicle performance, such as cruising range per charge, and requirements that the EV itself has a function as a charging facility in the event of a disaster. However, in 2024, in order to encourage efforts on the manufacturer side aimed at popularizing EVs, such as the installation of chargers, the number of locations at their own maintenance plants and partner factories, and the development of human resources to be maintained, new evaluation items and evaluation criteria for allocation of points were established, and they were calculated from that total score. Due to this new evaluation standard, the difference in subsidies widened from 120,000 to 850,000 yen. Furthermore, 20% of the payment amount will be deducted for vehicles with a sales price of 8.4 million yen or more. Even if it's 130 points or more, it's 680,000 yen instead of 850,000 yen. It was a strict CEV subsidy system for imported cars, where the higher the price, the lower the subsidy amount. Whereas bZ4x is 850,000 yen, Solterra is 650,000 yen, and 200,000 yen is also more expensive for bz4x. Even though the contents are almost the same, it means that there was such a difference due to differences in how the manufacturer worked on it. What stands out among other car models is a drastic reduction in the number of imported cars with weak charging infrastructure facilities and after-sales service systems. Imported cars with prominent subsidy reductions include the Jaguar I-PACE 520,000 yen → 120,000 yen, Porsche Taycan 424,000 to 520,000 yen, Citroen E-C4 650,000 yen → 450,000 yen, Peugeot e-208 650,000 yen → 450,000 yen, Audi e-tron 520,000 → 360,000 yen, and Volvo EX30. Price cuts for Chinese cars and Korean cars are also conspicuous. For BYD, Dolphin is 650,000 yen → 350,000 yen, and ATTO3 is 650,000 yen → 350,000 yen. For Hyundai, Ioniq 5 is 650,000 yen → 450,000 yen (entry car is 350,000 yen), and Kona is 650,000 yen → 450,000 yen (350,000 yen for casual).
