Tesla FSD: From $199 to $99 per month
$Tesla (TSLA.US)$ Big news from Tesla—they've just cut the monthly price for their Full Self-Driving (FSD) software from $199 to $99. It's a big move, considering the tough financial times they're facing.
The FSD, now renamed "FSD (Supervised)," still requires drivers to keep an eye on the road and be ready to take control. Despite its name, it's not fully autonomous, and there have been some issues with the system being a bit unreliable. Tesla's been under fire for not having better monitoring to make sure drivers are paying attention.
All new Tesla cars now come with Autopilot as standard, so there's no extra cost if you just stick with that. Autopilot is simpler than FSD but still pretty handy for everyday driving.
Tesla's also trying to drum up interest in FSD with a one-month free trial, and they're even making service center employees show off the software on demo rides—yup, that's an order from Elon Musk himself.
Here’s the kicker though—FSD isn’t flawless. Some users think it's great, while others find it erratic. Tesla's been rolling out updates like crazy, hoping to get it right, with the latest promising some pretty high-tech improvements.
Most other car brands limit their driver-assist features to highways, but Tesla's encouraging users to activate FSD on regular streets too, handling everything from traffic lights to tricky left turns.
On a broader scale, Tesla's also facing slower sales and recently scrapped plans for a cheaper model. Instead, they're hyping up a future "robotaxi."
What do you think? Will this finally boost the FSD take-up rate?

thoughtful Bat_8163 : I think it is a good move. If only a small percentage of TESLA owners use FSD, how could other carmakers be interested in licensing FSD?
ZnWC : You didn't explain that (according to Autoevolution) Tesla is facing a breakthrough moment in the Full Self-Driving development, as the end-to-end AI software has become more competent. People who used the latest iteration of the software (V12.3.1) testified that it performs impeccably most of the time, with no or very few disengagements during hours or even days of driving.

MonkeyGee : is that $99 a month or annual?
ZnWC : You also didn't explain that Tesla FSD hit the 1 billion-mile milestone which is important because the feature is a neural network self-learn or AI software. It differentiates itself from other self-driving applications which depend heavily on coding and HD maps.
