From the time when many investors were skeptical about Tesla's future potential, Kathy Wood, who led Ark Invest, was the first to see through Tesla's future potential and became famous.
She continued to invest in Tesla stock from 2014, when the company's stock price was less than 15 dollars, and then by the end of 2021, the stock price grew to about 27 times.
Cathy is known for her investments called “disruptive innovation,” and she is one of the “100 most influential women in the US financial industry.”
In May of this year, I had the opportunity to hear about Tesla's future potential at her office in Florida.
She has set Tesla's stock price target for 2027 at $2000. The current Tesla stock price is around 177 dollars, so we are expecting a 10 times or more increase in stock price from here on out.
According to Cathy, it is estimated that when Tesla shares reach 2000 dollars, 67% of the corporate value will become the “robo-taxi business,” and the corporate value that comes from sales of EV cars will be 24%.
When the robo-taxi business, which has a low cost and high profit margin, is in full swing, it is expected that the value will surpass sales of EV cars.
This analysis is a very aggressive point of view, and we don't know if Tesla shares will actually rise to 2000 dollars in 2027 until that time. However, stock prices have a habit of fluctuating while incorporating what will happen in the future, and if the concept of robo-taxis really becomes a reality, it may not be strange if Tesla stocks rise towards 2000 dollars.
The first such innovations will probably occur in America and China, and new technological innovations will spread to Japan after they become common in America. In other words, I think there's still a long way to go.
Either way, it's a very interesting idea. Will Elon Musk make such a future possible? I can't wait for his business plan to be announced in August.
